Take The Magic Step Foundation Inaugurated to Support Local Communities and Non-Profit Organizations in Public Health and Education Initiatives
Uta Pippig, founder and president of Take The Magic Step, LLC, and Michael Reger, the organization’s business and financial advisor, today announced the inauguration of the Take The Magic Step Foundation. Based in Boca Raton, Florida and Boulder, Colorado, the foundation will support causes and organizations that engage in research or provide resources to people in need of better health, education, and a greater sense of wellbeing.
Pippig, an American citizen since 2004, and Reger, an executive in the financial services industry, created the foundation with a goal “to provide help, hope, and inspiration” to improve the lives of underprivileged children and adults who lack education or face poor health or life-threatening illnesses. They hope to raise awareness and to inspire others to contribute resources to ease the hardships of those in their own communities who are facing these difficult challenges.
The foundation’s activities will include financial support, online delivery of basic health and fitness information, and personal appearances by the East German-born Pippig, 42, a two-time Olympian who won numerous major international marathons and captured the #1 ranking in the world in both the marathon and half-marathon.
In addition to their volunteer efforts and work as members of the Advisory Board at the MIT AgeLab, Pippig and Reger say that in 2008, the foundation hopes to provide assistance to organizations that include, among others, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the Pan-Mass Challenge, the South Boston Neighborhood House, The KIMbia Education Project, Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House, the American Liver Foundation, The Cleveland Clinic, and Lehigh University.
Additional information about the foundation can be found at www.TakeTheMagicStep.com, which also provides educational information intended to help readers recognize small changes they can make to their lifestyles to achieve healthier and happier lives.
