Uta Pippig Returns to Motivate and Inspire This Year’s Running Field and Charities at the Boston Marathon
Uta Pippig, the Founder and President of Take The Magic Step, LLC® and Take The Magic Step™ health and fitness program embarks on a whirlwind schedule of motivational speeches, charity events, exclusive coaching sessions and appearances surrounding this year’s Boston Marathon.
On Sunday she will speak at the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC) Pasta Party to a group of more than 1,500 people, comprised of DFMC runners, pediatric cancer patients, their families and supporters. These individuals have been seminal in raising millions of dollars for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute during the past year.
Since 1998, Uta has been involved with The Dana Farber cancer research program. “Their dedication to supporting cancer research and patient care is unparalleled. I hope I have inspired them as much as they have me,” she said.
On Monday morning at the starting line in Hopkinton, Uta will join a special NOVA/Tufts team of first-time marathoners she’s helped coach over the past year, who are being featured in “Marathon,” a PBS documentary airing this Fall, to impart final running tips and words of inspiration. For more information about the documentary, please go to: www.pbs.org/nova/marathon.
Uta will continue her Marathon-related activities on Tuesday, April 17th, with The Esplanade Association (TEA), the primary steward of Boston’s esteemed Esplanade. She donated a private training session to TEA for use as an auction item in their annual fundraiser. The winners will meet Uta at the Esplanade’s famous Hatch Shell at 3:00pm on Tuesday for a two-hour training session.
“The Boston Marathon is always a flurry of activity for me. But this year, due to the creation of Take The Magic Step, LLC, our philanthropic organization, and our work with NOVA, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and more, it’s particularly exciting. It’s going to be a fantastic week for everyone,” said Uta.
For the PBS NOVA documentary that will be filming on the course during this year’s Boston Marathon, Uta has joined forces with the filmmakers to track and provide real-time commentary, critique and motivation to first-time marathoners as they’ve trained for the 111th Boston Marathon®.
