Uta to be Motivational Speaker and Kids Races’ Grand Marshall for 2008 Marathon of the Palm Beaches
Uta Pippig, world renowned Marathon Champion and founder of Take The Magic Step, will be the honored Guest Speaker at the Kick-Off Breakfast, and Grand Marshall for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Kids Races for the 2008 Marathon of the Palm Beaches.
“I am so excited to be part of this year’s Marathon of the Palm Beaches!” said Uta. “The organizers have put together such a great event that includes everything. A 5K, a marathon, Kids Races and a great course with fantastic local support—it is a win for everyone! I can’t wait to have fun with the kids and cheer them on as they cross the finish lines with their glowing faces.”
Uta, a two-time Olympian and three-time Boston Marathon champion, has been actively involved in raising awareness of childhood fitness through her organization, Take The Magic Step. Said Uta: “One of our goals is to help families and young people become involved in a healthy lifestyle to benefit them for their entire lives.”
Take The Magic Step’s mission is to help people achieve a greater sense of wellbeing through inspiration, education, and lifestyle changes—made one small step at a time. Individuals, families, children, and corporations have all benefited from Uta’s unique, playful, and successful approach to health and fitness.
“We work closely with individuals, charities and events, and corporations that share our belief that healthier habits lead to happier lives,” said Uta. “Educating families and children is so important to achieving this goal. The Marathon of the Palm Beaches is a great example of getting families involved in fitness.”
The marathon is presented by The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches with sponsorships including Publix Super Markets, Ronald McDonald House Charities, American Airlines, and Marriot Hotels.
Uta will be the Guest Speaker at the Kick-Off Breakfast on Friday, December 5th at 8 a.m. where she will address sponsors and runners. A press conference will follow.
On Saturday, December 6th, Uta will be the Grand Marshall of the Kids Races which start at 9 a.m. West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel and Uta will be awarding all the children medals for their runs.
